A Tribute to D&M Manufacturing Founder John Tolentino
John Tolentino
July 16, 1952 – March 6, 2015
With years of experience in ag equipment, agriculture, welding and fabrication, John Tolentino started out on his business venture not solely out of necessity, but as a calling. His hands-on experience and relentless work ethic laid the foundation for the “Green Machine”—an idea for a vineyard sulfur machine he knew that would not only work, but would also become the catalyst for D&M Manufacturing.
In the fall of 1987, D&M Manufacturing officially opened its doors. With unwavering support from his family and a few close friends, John started bringing his ideas and dreams to fruition. After some tough first years, a few prototypes, and various design changes, John had a final product on the floor. The bright green (almost fluorescent) color he chose for D&M equipment came with a purpose. When asked, “Why that bright green?” His response was simple, “They may not remember the name but they will always remember that ‘Green Machine.’” The name stuck and the D&M “Green Machine” vineyard duster became the foundation for what D&M is built on today.
Thankfully, John didn’t stop there and turned D&M into a premier spray equipment manufacturer whose quality workmanship and unmatched customer service has cemented them into the Valley’s Ag community for years to come.
With his unfortunate passing at the age of 62, John leaves behind a legacy not just of hard work and commitment, but one of loyalty, love of family and deep moral values. His family and closest friends will forever be thankful for all John accomplished and sacrificed while here on this earth, and in his memory will aim to keep the D&M dream alive.
